Picture windows for daylight, views and combination openings
A fixed or picture window does not open. Removing operating hardware allows a clean glass area and makes fixed units useful where daylight, sightlines or a larger uninterrupted view are the priority. They are also commonly paired with casement or awning units for ventilation.
Large fixed panes can become heavy quickly, so dimensions affect glass thickness, handling, access and installation planning. Safety glazing may also be required depending on the opening location and use. The estimator treats a small fixed bedroom pane differently from a large living-room or stairwell opening.
